The role of standard gas
(1) Establish traceability of measurement. The gas standard substance has good uniformity and stability, can preserve the chemical composition and characteristic value of the substance, and transfer its value in different spaces and times. Therefore, through the application of standard gas, various actual measurement results can be traced to the source of measurement.
(2) Promote the development of measurement technology and quality supervision. Standard gases have played an important role in ensuring the consistency of product quality and inspection results, and ensuring the scientific, authoritative and impartiality of technical supervision. Standard gases are inseparable from the type appraisal of new instruments, the measurement certification of quality inspection agencies, laboratory accreditation, and the formulation, verification and implementation of national and industry gas product standards.
(3) Carrying out the transfer of the value. Standard gas is a means to transfer the value and achieve consistent measurement results. Through different grades of standard gases, the value of the basic unit of the International System of Units is transferred to the actual measurement in order to ensure the accuracy of the measurement result.
(4) Ensure that the test results are accurate and consistent. The standard gas can be used to calibrate or verify the quality of the measurement process and various measurements, so as to ensure the consistency of the measurement results in different time and space.
